Kingdom of Heaven Movie Review
Yes, I have to confess that I have watched the Kingdom of Heaven a total of disk data recovery services times so far. And no, it is not because I am a huge fan of Orlando Bloom or his unconvincing portrayal of Balian of Ibelin. In fact, I have never thought mercedes car insurance of him since his happy arrow-shooting days as Legolas. I was more drawn to the Kingdom of Heaven for its breathtaking creation of the sets during the medieval ages, which incidentally I was addicted to a PC game of the same genre when the movie was released.
What the Kingdom of Heaven movie is all about
Ridley Scotts movie, the Kingdom of Heaven starts off in a remote and quiet village in France, where a blacksmith, Balian (Bloom) was depressed by the suicide of his wife. His father then who was the Baron Godfrey of Ibelin urged Balian to follow him back to Jerusalem to take care of his people there.
Balian at first was hesistant, then murders the priest, trailed his father and followed him back to Jerusalem in the hope of redeeming himself and his wife. His father passed away shortly after and soon knighted Balian so that he can help protect the helpless and serve the King of Jerusalem (Edward Norton).
In the end, Balian did what was expected of him, although in an unwilling fashion, helped to protect the helpless and defended the walls of Jerusalem from the massive Saracen army headed by the icy-cool Saladin (Ghassan Massoud).
Although the Kingdom of Heaven presents an absolute all star-studded cast, it is disappointing to note that the choice of the lead actor goes to the flaky Bloom. Fortunately he was supported by the strong presence of Liam Neeson, Jeremy Irons, Edward Norton, Eva Green and Justification9 Massoud.
Although critics have argued that the Kingdom of Heaven is loosely based on historical accounts, it is still recommended for those of you who want to visualize the old-school trebuchets throwing fireballs in castle-siege action.
That scene alone, my friend, is worth watching the movie more than 8 times.
